Historic Figurine by Les Etains du Graal - Bertrand du Guesclin

Bertrand du Guesclin was born in 1320 at the château de la Motte-Broons, near Dinan and died July 1380.
He was from lesser noble breton birth and supreme commander of France and of Castile.  He was the oldest son of 10 siblings.
Historians produced a rather unflattering picture of him descibing him as having short knotty legs, wide shoulders, very long arms and a round face with no appeal.

His strength and agility gave him an excellent reputation for his whirling rotations while jousting.
Such were his successes in battle and his bravery noted that he was made a Knight in 1557. A quote attributed to him was "Courage makes up for what beauty has denied". Bertrand du Gesclin was made captain of Pontorson and of Mont Saint-Michel.
