Legendary figurines by Les Etains du Graal - Uther Pendragon
Uther Pendragon which means "Dragon Head" in gaelic. He counts among the greatest historic names of the Kings of Brittany and many various legendary stories in the arthurian adventure books.
In the book "Lancelot-Grail" it is was at Bourges that Uther Pendragon was allegedly born.
He is father to King Arthur.
Uther Pendragon would have been the youngest son of Constantin III so therefore wasn't destined to become king.
When his brother was killed, Uther hid in continental Brittany with his second brother who became king.
Once chief of the army, Uther left for Ireland bringing back the stones at Stonehenge with Merlin's help. A vision of a dragon shaped comet was interpreted by Merlin as a sign that put Uther on the throne of Brittany, following the assisination of his brother by poisoning.
It wasn't until he was on the throne that he adotped the name Pendragon having 2 golden dragons made, one as his ensign.
Uther Pendragon pursued the wife of Gorlois Duke of Cornouailles one of his courtiers. A hatred was enflamed between the one time friends.
Gorlois locked his wife Igerne away in the castle at Tintagel but owing to Merlin's magic, Uther went to her in the night under the guise of her husband, resulting in the future King Arthur.
Gorlois was killed during this time and Uther married Igerne.
At his death, Uther Pendragon drove the sword into the stone. The one who withdraws the sword successfully would be the new King of Brittany.
