Cap-Ferret lighthouse is a tapering tower in smooth stonework painted white with red in its upper part. Adjacent to the tower, a rectangular building houses the machinery, the lift and accommodation.
It has been automated since 1995.
Built on the Cap Ferret peninsular (Borough of Lège-Cap-Ferret) in Gironde between the Bassin d’Arcachon and the Atlantic.
The first Cap-Ferret lighthouse was built in 1840. The tower structure is 47.7 m with elevation of 51 m with a fixed white light. It was powered by electricity from 1929. Destroyed by the Germans in 1944, it was rebuilt in 1949 on the point of the peninsular.
