Legendary figurines by Les Etains du Graal - Gavin with chair
Set piece for the round table by Les étains du graal.
Gavin is a knight of the round table. His peers consider him to model virtues in keeping with knightly behaviour quite exceptionally. He is the son of Lot d'Orcanie and of Morgause, and the king Arthur's nephew and cousin to Yvain. Gavin is quite an instriguing individual, it is said his strength increased with the day light, reaching his peak at midday and weakening towards night fall.
Gavin is the only knight of the round table to beat Lancelot and Perceval at a duel.
At the end of the tale of Merlin (1230 - 1235), Viviane the fairy manages to imprison Merlin and it is to Gavin that he said he was the last one to see him alive.
So despite him not being such a prominent knight, because he was always eclipsed by Perceval, Lancelot and king Arthur, he is never the less honoured to be present in almost every account of the legends of Arthur.
Once again, the Etains du Graal have brought sir Gavin to life. This peuter figurine is magnificent with exceptional detail from head to toe.
The knights' chairs a wonderfully crafted, perfectly charming in their simplicity.
A reinforced pin under one foot allows the figure to be connected to his allotted place around the table.
