Legendary figurines by les Etains du Graal - Morgane the fairy
Morgane the fairy is often depicted as queen of the fairies and chief of the isle of Avalon where she received Arthur at his death.
Depending on which author you read, she is alternately referred to as half sister, and then sister to Arthur.
Depicted as a generally positive character, as some stories progress, Morgan becomes demonic obsessed with Arthur, those around him and to the knights of the round table.
The name Morgane is every bit as complex as her character.
in fact, according to François-Marie Luzel, it means "born of the sea" in breton (Mor = sea and gane = born).
Another linguist, Ferdinand Lot, for him, he attributes her name to Muirgen (Welsh) which means mermaid coming from the irish goddess's name Morrigane.
Here, Morgan the fairy is dressed in her finest ceremonial attire.
She is magnificent !!!!
