A moment in the life of the lawyer as seen by Guillermo Forchino:

In her childhood, Vera Timmons witnessed several incidents involving crime. One day she saw her little neighbour, Peter « the sardine », pulling apart his girfriend Katherine's teddy with a sarcastic grin on his face.  The following week, the very same Peter, armed with a catapult, shattered one of Mrs Carrigan's window pains. Another day, the sardine stole a fist full of sweets dipping his grimy mits into aunty Mary's sweety jar. Even though Vera saw everything, everyone says she lied and pretended her little sister was responsible for each incident.

That's injustice, in a nut shell , the injustice of speaking the truth and nobody believing you, and those who encouraged Vera Timmons to follow a career in law.

The years passed and following a distinguished time at university, Vera was proud to enter the career she had been so jealous for. The only thing she would never quite understand was how Peter "the sardine" would swallow it, following a career in politics rising to be senator.
