Edward Teach was born in 1680 probably on the coast near Bristol, England.
He built a reputation quickly mainly due to his general appearance and his black beard became as famous as his powder attacks.
He acquired such a reputation that his reputation preceeded him on many occasions and he won without engagement. The mere threat caused his victims to submit.
